In order to receive LEEDS certification a building must pass the following nine criteria. Sustainable site, water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, materials and resources, indoor environmental quality, locations and linkages, awareness and education, innovation and design and lastly, regional priority.
The highest, greenest rating is Platinum status followed by Gold, Silver and Certified. To achieve LEED certification points are awarded up to 100. To be certified a project must meet all prerequisites and earn a minimum amount of points. To achieve Platinum status a building must achieve a minimum of 80 points.
